Hi everyone! My name is Brenda G. I use they/them pronouns. I am a fourth year studying Sociology, Ethnic Studies, and minoring in Public Policy. I am from Pomona, CA — a beautiful city in LA County! In Pomona, I was able to contribute in creating an organization named Pomona Students Union that advocates for a healthy environment (both academic and non-academic) and empowers students to advocate for themselves. At Berkeley, I founded De Colores – A queer/trans Latinx Organization and I am also a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow doing research on secondary education. This summer I was in my hometown doing remote research with the University of Chicago on education; analysing canonical works to see how school settings impact students’ identity formation.
